Progression Systems

According to Perplexity, in the context of video games, a "progression system" refers to the mechanisms that track and encourage a player's advancement through the game.

Progression systems are designed to define and reinforce the player's sense of growth, achievement, and progress within the game's world.

These systems can be seen in various forms, such as character progression, where the player's avatar gains new abilities, skills, or equipment, or game progression, where the player moves through different levels or areas of the game.

In the real world, a progression system might look like a young person being told and then proceeding to maintain a high GPA throughout K-12, go to a prestigious university, compete for grades and positions, and land a stable job which leads to a respectable career.

Progression Systems is a non-profit whose mission is to support the creation of new alternative progression systems. We are currently incubating an experimental business model for ambitious social change activists and community builders.
